21 year old singer/songwriter Chad Mackey has been writing songs since he was 15. Two years later, he decided to pick up the guitar. Chad is an Asheville , NC native, but is currently based in Charlotte. In 2006, He independently released his first full length record "The Road", followed by his second independent release in 2007, "Like A Penny On Heads". Chad is "building a name for himself in the regional coffeehouse and club scene", says Take 5 of Asheville Citizen Times' entertainment section. He can be seen playing various types of shows, from intimate solo/duo acoustic shows to full band shows. In the coffeehouse scene, Chad often plays acoustic shows with his fiancée, Lindsay Rodgers who accompanies him on d'jembe. "It's nice to have someone you love so much want to help out with your passion". His live full band shows are played at larger venues such as clubs and bars that are more catered towards music. For these types of shows, he is joined by drummer Matt Shaughnessy and bass player Dillon Goodman, and sometimes rotating lead guitarists. Fans are drawn to Chad ’s music by likeable melodies and meaningful lyrics, which are spawned from everyday life, different experiences, and love. Chad is currently teaming up with Shaughnessy and Goodman, and working on a new project that he calls the sound that he has always been going for. "I've always loved the raw acoustic/rock driven sound that you can find through acts like Dispatch, Brett Dennen, and Jack Johnson. That's where this record is heading, and it makes me happy. I think that is how my songs were always meant to be." With a growing local/regional fan base, Chad feels that it is important to release an album that best represents who he is as an artist. "I want make sure that myself, as well as other people, want to listen to the record the whole way through, and be able to say that every song on that record is a good song". He has spent the last few years molding himself as an artist and finding out which direction he wants to go, as do most musicians. The result will be apparent in the upcoming project. The new record will be available May, 2008.
